Mission Stament Akuara Teatro

To serve the Miami multicultural community by providing theatrical performances, concerts, lectures, training and collaborative projects with other cultural groups. We concentrate our efforts in contemporary art mainly in Spanish language, providing supra-titled versions of playwrights in an effort to foster communication and understanding of ethnic, cultural and sexual diversity. It is our goal to reach out and to provide cultural development and training with high professional standards. Akuara has been able to join efforts with a group of well recognized scholars, theatre directors and performers that are committed to social service through the performing arts.

AKUARA: La que vive entre dos aguas.

Ochún: Orisha mayor del Panteón Yoruba, dueña del amor, de la femineidad y del río, símbolo de la coquetería, la gracia y la sexualidad femenina.

Ochún Akuara es un camino de la orisha que trasciende fronteras.

Ochún Akuara : (o Ibú) vive entre el río y el mar: las aguas dulces y saladas. Le gusta hacer el bien, conciliar intereses. En este avatar, se niega al maleficio y aplaca el alma de los abikús. Sólo realiza amarres y filtros de amor. La música y el arte la apasionan. akuara ( Ibú ) ochún : vive entre el mar y el río, por tanto, es de agua salada o dulce. Es la que prepara los amarres sentimentales a través de filtros para el amor. Se le suele llevar hasta su jurisdicción ofrendas, ochinchín, con mucha miel, bastante oro y perfumes, y una botella de sidra dulce. Antes de llegar al lugar, hay que hacerle ebbó a Yemayá, su madre adoptiva quién la recogió en su desesperada huida. Akuara, para muchos lucumí, es uno de los pasajes más viejos de Ochún, que viene de Dajomi. Nada se escapa a sus ataduras…

Según cuenta la historia, Ochún Akuara cura los males del alma y del cuerpo con sus aguas y con la miel, de la cual es también poseedora.

"Akuara Teatro" es una organización teatral fundada por artistas hispanos que viven y trabajan en los Estados Unidos y que desean abrirse a nuevos espacios. La compañía es una conversión de "La Avellaneda Theatre de Los Ángeles" creada en el año 1998.

Akuara Teatro es una organización sin fines de con objetivos educativos y artísticos. Nos interesa Producir obras del repertorio universal fundamentalmente en español, sin restricciones de estilo, forma o contenido.
